MAN UTD TARGET £21M MIDFIELDER.

Spain and Barcelona forward, Thiago Alcantara, has emerged as potential transfer target for Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, who is keen in signing an attacking mid-fielder to bolster his midfield options.

The Old Trafford side have already secured the signature of teenage sensation, Nick Powell and Japanese play maker, Shinji Kagawa and Fergie seems to have settled for the Catalan product.

The 21-year old joined Barcelona in 2005 and has grown in leaps and bounds under the tutorial of former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola.

Alcantara’s great vision, superb ball-control and terrific passing skills saw him force his way into the first team but found minutes on the pitch hard to come due to the presence of midfield maestro Xavi and the arrival of Cesc Fabregas who are natural first choice at Camp Nou.

Sir Alex Ferguson is known to be an admirer of the young playmaker’s ability to attack from deep a quality that will fit him perfectly at Old Trafford. The Spaniard is valued at £21m which is regarded a bargain considering his tender age and immense potential hence has a great resale value in future.

United lost the Premier League title to rivals Manchester City in a season which saw them stretch their midfield options due to injuries, a situation which prompted them to recall retired veteran, Paul Scholes.

Reports reveal Alcantara is frustrated by lack of regular football at Barcelona and Sir Alex hopes to use the allure of regular football to secure his services.
