TANZANIA BOOTED OUT OF THE COMPETITION

The remaining Tanzanian contestant was booted out of the Tusker Project Fame Academy on Saturday evening during the eviction show.
Damian Mihayo failed to impress judges after performing “The way you are” by Bruno Mars for the second time. Tanzanian judges Hermes Bariki said, “Your performance was okay compared to last week but you need to come out of your shell.”
His eviction came on the night South African based judge Gerrard Forster announced a new recording deal for the top ten contestants and he had to fight it out with four other contestants who were on probation to make it to the top ten. The top ten will record a joint album that will out by the time TPF 5 season ends.
The other contestant to miss out on the lucrative deal was Fatuma Muhonza from Rwanda. Damian vowed not to let his eviction stop him from pursuing his dream of a successful music career.
He explained his difficulties in the last few weeks, “I come from Dar es Salaam where it is very hot. It is much cooler in Nairobi and I had to warm up more than any other contestant in the academy. This affected my voice.”

The top ten contestants will record an album with Universal Music Group the official recording partners of TPF 5. The announcement was made on Saturday night by Gerrard Forster, the Head of New Business Development for Sub-Saharan Africa for UMG International, who is also the forth judge in Tusker project fame 5. The 10 track album will be released by the time the Tusker Project Fame’s fifth season ends, on 29 July 2012.
